The Demopolis City School System has announced its upcoming registration for Pre-K and Marengo County Schools will be registering students for kindergarten and first grade.
Demopolis Pre-K Pre-Registration
Alabama’s Voluntary Pre-K program pre-registration for Westside Elementary School is open from Jan. 15 through March 15.
The online pre-registration for the 2020-21 school year are now being accepted. Enrollment is open to all children ages four years of aga on or before Sept. 1, 2020, who are residents of the State of Alabama. Children eligible for kindergarten are ineligible for Pre-K.
Enrollees must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate, social security card, and immunization record (blue slip). A proof of residence, either a current utility bill or a copy of a lease or mortgate, must be provided.
No child will be denied participation on the basis of income, sex, race, color, national origin, or disability. Acceptance into the program is strictly through a random drawing. The date of the drawing will be announced at a later date.

Marengo County Schools Kindergarten and First Grade
The Marengo County School System will conduct a kindergarten and first grade pre-registration clinic on Friday, March 6, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from noon to 2:30 p.m.
A child who will be five years old before Sept. 2 may pre-register for kindergarten. Children not already attending kindergarten and who will be six before Setp. 2 are urged to pre-register for first grade on March 6 also.
A certificate of immunization should be provided to school officials for each child enrolling. The Alabama Committee of Public Health states that children between the ages of four and six receive a second dose of measles vaccine. Proof of the second dose will be required for each new kindergarten/first grade student at the beginning of the school year. The Marengo County Health Department in Linden is the responsible agency for administering this vaccine.
A parent or guardian must accompany the child and should bring a certified birth certificate, social security card, and blue immunization form.
The schools conducting the pre-registration clinic are: A.L. Johnson High School in Thomaston, Marengo High School in Dixons Mills; and Sweet Water High School in Sweet Water.
Children attending Head Start that will be enrolling in kindergarten must also pre-register. A parent or guardian must accompany the child and must bring a certified birth certificate, social security card, and blue immunization form.
