The Demopolis City Board of Education held a special-called meeting Monday morning to handle several personnel items before students return to school following the winter break.
Among the personnel changes approved was the resignation of Alaric Shawn Castleberry as the band instructor at Demopolis Middle School. The current band director at the high school, Bryce Youmans, will now be dividing his time between DHS, DMS, and U.S. Jones Elementary and will be reimbursed the assistant band director supplement pay for the remainder of the school year.
The board also amended the start date for Kate Davis who had originally been scheduled to begin her role as a special education teacher at DMS on Jan. 21. Davis was released early from her current school system and was approved to begin teaching at DMS beginning Jan. 6.
The board also approved a longterm substitute position for Mary Sue Moore, beginning Jan. 6.
Other items approved by the board was related to travel for Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff who will be attending two out-of-state professional development programs, both in Georgia.
The next scheduled BOE meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, 5:15 p.m., at the central office. The public is invited to attend.
