The Linden City Council approved a budget of over $1.8 million with just under $1.7 million in expected expenses. The budget also includes a two percent raise for municipal employees.
The councilors also discussed placing a bid for a building on 8th Avenue that used to house an Alabama Power office. Mayor Charles Moore said the building is 40×60 square feet. He also said that the city may need to add on to the building, as well.
While the city council showed interest in moving city hall to such a location, they first set Council Secretary Bruce Ward to acquiring a key so they can view and walk through the building prior to placing a bid.
The Linden Police Department is also accepting candy donation in preparation for their upcoming Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 31.
