A Demopolis native and her family have been displaced from their home in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.
Amber Stroud Gilmore, her husband, Tyler, along with their three young children are residents of Panama City, but when Michael blew through that area in mid-October, their home was among the many there left unlivable. Currently, the family is residing in Ft. Walton Beach, about two hours east, while their home undergoes repairs.
Amber is a native of Demopolis, but being part of a military family, moved from the area. Her grandparents, Charles and Janice Stroud are longtime residents of the city.
“We know lots of families have had the same problems, experiences, and worst of all losing loved ones. Our daughter’s home is practically a total loss and they have nothing. All their clothes, baby toys, and furniture are completely ruined. They have been staying with relatives and hotels during this time but money is tight,” said Dawn Stroud, Amber’s mother. “We feel blessed they are safe but now need financial stability to assist in getting their lives together.”
The family has set up a Go Fund Me page under “Hurricane Michael Destroyed Home.” Donations may also be made locally through the Stroud family.
