Kenneth E. Sherwood, 83, of Demopolis passed away Oct. 30, 2018 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Sherwood is a native of Wilmington, Delaware. He retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Company after serving over 30 years. He also worked for 13 years at McClain E-2 Pack, Inc.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958, serving three of those years on the submarine base at New London, Connecticut and one year on the USS Fulton (submarine tender) for the first nuclear submarine USS Nautulas. He was a member of the Alabama Lions Club, St. Johns #2 Masonic Lodge of New Castle, Delaware, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and the Zamora Shrine Temple of Birmingham. He was the secretary of Demopolis Masonic Lodge #49.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry J. and Eva P. Sherwood; a sister, Eleanor S. Bridges; and two brothers, James H. Sherwood and Paul W. Sherwood.

Survivors include: his wife, Shelby S. Sherwood of Demopolis; two daughters, Robin Coleman of Elkton, Maryland and Linda Gary of Valley Lee, Maryland; a son, Jeffery Sherwood Sr. of New Castle, Delaware; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece; and three nephews.

Services for Mr. Sherman will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m., from Gracelawn Memorial Chapel in New Castle, Delaware. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

A visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Demopolis. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to funeral services in Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Demopolis Lions Club, Masonic Home of Delaware #80c, or the Demopolis Masonic Lodge #49. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.
