The Marengo County Extension Office will host a free Goats Management class on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Tommie Teacher, Regional Extension Agent with the Hale County Extension Office, will instruct the group lecture-style about foot care and other health issues in goats.
“They will learn basic things about parasites with goats,” he said.
According to Teacher, the class comes at an opportune time for goat owners as “most people do foot care in November.”
Teacher also said “I might have some tools that you’d use to take care of the animals” present with him during the class.
Following the course, Teacher will conduct a survey to decide if he will do a demonstration-driven workshop at a later date.
Teacher’s expertise comes from almost two decades of working with and caring for goats. He said he hopes that his workshop teaches owners how to care for their goats in the best way possible.
“I want to change the behavior for how they manage their goats.”
According to the Hale County Extension Office, there is no deadline to register. For more information, call 334-624-8710.
