Benjamin Russell will make the road trip from Alexander City Friday to take on Demopolis High School in a non-region contest.
The Wildcats are 3-1 on the season with the lone loss being a 19-0 shutout to Stanhope Elmore. Last week, they defeated Selma by a score of 25-20.
For the Tigers, the game marks the third of the season to take on an opponent from a higher classification. The Tigers lost in Week 1 to 7A Tuscaloosa County and defeated 6A Northridge, 22-20, in Week 2. Benjamin Russell is a 6A school, competing in Region 3. This marks the first time Demopolis and Benjamin Russell have met in football.
Nearing the mid-way mark of the 2018 season, the Tigers are outscoring opponents 118-61 and are 2-0 in region play. This week’s contest is the second home game of the season for DHS and they will have a bye the following week before hosting region foe Shelby County on Oct. 5.
Other Marengo County contests this week include a Thursday night region game between unbeatens Linden (3-0) and Isabella (3-0).
On Friday night, Marengo High (4-0) will look to improve to a perfect 5-0 against St. Lukes (3-1) whose only loss was to Georgiana in Week 1. The Wildcats defeated Sweet Water in Week 3.
Sweet Water will be traveling west of the border to take on Scott Central in Mississippi.
A.L. Johnson (0-3), still seeking its first win of the season, will host region opponent Holy Spirit.
Marengo Academy (1-4) will attempt to build on last week’s victory as they host a non-region game against Wilcox Academy (4-0).
