The Demopolis Police Department is reporting that investigators do not believe foul play is involved in the death of a man whose body was discovered earlier this week.
“The cause of death is still being investigated, but we do not suspect foul play,” said Public Safety Director Tommie Reese.
Local police responded to a wooded yard area of a home at 155 Wild Honey Court where the body was found. The deceased is identified as 36-year-old Joseph Phillips Knowles Jr.
Reese reported that the body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Members of the Demopolis Public Safety Department, including patrol division, criminal investigations division, fire and rescue, Marengo County Coroner John Scott, and Amstar Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
