The Theo Ratliff Activity Center will be the site of March2Success, a study program designed to help students improve their scores for the ASVAB, ACT and SAT. Starting on June 16, up to 16 students will take practice tests and follow computer-based, individualized lesson plans to prepare themselves for the standardized tests.

“If you do not do well in an area, then it gives you remediation strategies to get those scores up,” said Charlotte Owens, who will be supervising the classes.

March2Success will be every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and will be free to the participant.

“They’re not paying for this. This is free,” Owens said.

There is no minimum number of lessons that participants have to attend. Once they have the skills or the score they desire, they can leave and another student will fill their slot.

Owens said that the program was brought to the Ratliff Center to give students a “chance to go off to tech school, college or the military.” She said March2Success will have a positive impact on the participants.

“I see better scores. I see hopefully more young people wanting to go off to school.”

Owens said that the rules for the program are the same as standard computer room rules. No talking, eating, drinking, pajamas or chewing gum will be allowed during the classes.

March2Sucess is a program created by the U.S. Army and also allows students from all surrounding schools who wish to enter the military to take their test in Demopolis rather than Montgomery. Testing for the military is available most afternoons at the Ratliff Center.
