Gilbert Strickland, 86, of Demopolis, Ala., died April 30, 2017, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. A private graveside service will be held in Montevallo, Ala. with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orris and Althea Strickland; two sisters, Althea “Liz” Bowman and Reba Carter; and one brother, Richard “Dick” Strickland.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Davenport Strickland of Demopolis; daughter, Lanice Morgan of Demopolis; son, Joey Morgan (Laura) of Demopolis; sister, Lillian King (Harold); brother, Henrey Strickland (Shirley); and grandchildren, Carrie Wilson and Laura Kathryn Morgan; and great-grandchild, Sawyer Wilson.

Gilbert served 20 years in the United States Air Force including the Vietnam War. He retired from the City of Montgomery after 23 years.
