Margaret Smith Collins

Margaret Smith Collins died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016.
Peggy was born on June 2, 1946 at the Presbyterian Mission in Bibanga, Belgian Congo. She was the daughter of the Rev. Mr. J. Holmes Smith III and his wife, Elizabeth Neel Smith. Moving with her family in church service, she last lived with them in Demopolis and Montgomery, Alabama.
In 1967, she married the late James Clovis Collins of Montgomery. They had two sons, James Edward Collins and William Smith Collins, who survive her.
Peggy was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian, where she served as elder and choir member.
A graduate of Auburn University-Montgomery, she was employed by the Alabama Tourism Department. She also served with the Public Relations Council on local and state levels for many years. Besides her many talents and love for theater, Peggy was known for her compassion, loving spirit and bright colors.
In addition to her sons, she is survived by her brother, J. H. Smith IV of Mobile and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Peggy will be cremated.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Memorial Presbyterian in Montgomery on Saturday, January 7.
