Operation “Santa’s Sleigh Ride” leads to 12 arrests

The Demopolis Police Department initiated “Operation Santa’s Sleigh Ride” early on the morning of Dec. 21 by serving search and arrest warrants on drug dealers in the city of Demopolis. This led to the 12 drug related arrests.
DPD Chief Tommie Reese mentioned that the name fits the season because Santa knows who’s naughty or nice.
During the execution of the operation, large amounts of marijuana, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and weapons were located by officers.
The suspects that were taken into custody were as follows:
Dozie Cox, 45, was arrested at 208 South Ash St. and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, first degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia.
William Wallace, 35, was arrested at 400 North Strawberry St. and charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
Janey Ash Wallace, 52, was arrested at 400 North Strawberry St. and charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
Cody Lee Downing, 25, was arrested at 122 Bell Grayson Rd. and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Juan Huitt, 22, was arrested at 1506 Hwy 80 East and charged with of three counts of distribution of a controlled substance.
Gerald Johnson, 23, was arrested at 866 Hilltop Circle and charged with distribution of a controlled substance and first degree possession of marijuana.
Johnny Gracie, 31, was arrested at 704 Floyd St. and charged with four counts of distribution of a controlled substance and second degree possession of marijuana.
Jessie Collins, 60, was arrested in Demopolis and charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
Ernest Glenn Bryant, 60, was arrested at 808 Third Ave. and charged with of four counts of distribution of a controlled substance.
Darius Powell, 24, was arrested at 71 North Walnut Ave. and charged with first degree possession of marijuana.
Kiara Brasfield, 24, was arrested at 2300 Englewood Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL and charged with of distribution of a controlled substance.
Demarcus Wheeler, 21, was arrested at 702 Fourth Ave and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.
All of the suspects were processed and transported to the Marengo County Detention Center to await bond hearing.
Reese noted that more arrests are coming. He also gave high marks to his Officer for a job well done and he thanks the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force for their assistance.
“Demopolis is still a good place and we want to keep it that way,” said Reese.
