Buell Roger Brown

Buell Roger Brown, 92, of Ashland, Kentucky passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
Buell was born to John B. and Nellie C. Brown, July 30, 1923, in Johnson County, Kentucky. He graduated from Louisa High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business at Marshall University. He married Gloria C. Brown in 1948 and they lived together in Ashland until his retirement in 1985, after which they spent time in both Ashland and Demopolis. He was vice president and merchandise manager for the C.H. Parsons Company in Ashland until his retirement.
Upon his retirement spent the vast majority of his time on his boat on the inland waterways of the Eastern United States. He found contentment being on the water anywhere, anytime. He was able to live aboard his boat until October 2014, when declining health necessitated coming back on land.
He is survived by two children, John Roger Brown of Ashland and Mark E. Brown, MD, and his wife Dale, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Ralph Smith, of Ashland; and two grandsons, Mark E. Brown Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina and David Whitaker Brown of Greensboro, North Carolina.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Community Hospice of Ashland, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY, 41101 or Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
