SELMA — A preliminary hearing for the men who allegedly shot and killed a Demopolis man in March has been rescheduled.
The hearing for Kendarious Brown, 21, and Devontae Jiles, 22, was scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, but has been rescheduled for May 5, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
Jackson said the hearing was delayed because Brown obtained a new lawyer, and the attorney asked District Judge Bob Armstrong for a continuation.
Brown and Jiles were both charged with capital murder and unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
According to the Selma Police Department, 28-year-old Jimmy Hudgens was allegedly shot and killed Saturday, March 14 after confronting two car burglars around 10:15 p.m. in Old Town.
Hudgens, who had recently celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with his wife, was in Selma visiting his uncle that weekend and died shortly after being transported to a Montgomery hospital.
