Vehicle leaves roadway, hits residence

A vehicle left the roadway in an accident Sunday afternoon and ran into a residence on East Pettus Street.
A single-vehicle accident occurred Sunday afternoon on East Pettus Street when a car left the roadway and struck a residence.
According to a press release from the Demopolis Police Department, the driver of the vehicle was attempting to drive to the emergency room when he or she lost consciousness and left the roadway around 4 p.m. The vehicle drove into a wall at the residence located at 718 E. Pettus Street.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. There were no other injuries in the accident.
The Demopolis Police Department, Demopolis Fire Department and AmStar responded to the call.
