DHS baseball selling tickets for fundraiser

The Demopolis High School baseball team is selling tickets for a fundraiser that could help the team with expenses for the upcoming season.
The fundraiser is sponsored by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association, and the amount of money the DHS program will receive is based on how many tickets are sold. The fundraiser is statewide, so high schools and colleges across the state will be participating.
There are several prizes available for winning ticket-holders, including a four-day Carnival cruise for two, a pair of Iron Bowl tickets, a weekend stay for two at Gulf Shores, four tickets to the May 2015 NASCAR race at Talladega and individual $300, $200 and $100 Visa gift cards.
This is the first year Demopolis’ baseball program has participated in the program, but last fall, out of $159,000 worth of tickets sold, $114,000 went back into the schools that sold tickets. The percentage of money a school receives for tickets sold is as follows:
•0-99 tickets – 40 percent
•100-199 tickets – 60 percent
•200-299 tickets – 70 percent
•300+ tickets – 75 percent
“This is the only fundraiser I’ve seen that you get these kind of percentages back,” DHS head coach James Moody said. “The Alabama Baseball Coaches Association is a voice for coaches across the state, and this is a way for us to help them and for them to help us.”
Tickets are $10 each and are available from any member of the baseball team. Tickets can also be purchased from Moody at DHS or from assistant coach Kevin May at Westside Elementary.
The final turn-in date for DHS players is Monday, Nov. 3, and prizes will be drawn Sunday, Nov. 16.
