Lady Tigers continuing to improve as season progresses

The Demopolis High School volleyball team’s record stands at 3-2 early in the season.
With wins over Selma, Dallas County and Sweet Water, Lady Tigers head coach Angela Sanders said she feels like her team has improved since the start of the season.
“We’ve improved greatly,” she said. “There should be nothing that stops us other than ourselves. We’ve had better effort and we aren’t as hesitant as we’ve been before. The girls are enjoying the game more.”
Demopolis’ two losses came against Thomasville and Hale County. Sanders said the team’s attitude is something that has hurt them in close matches.
She added that she’s looking for a leader to step up and motivate the team.
“I’m really trying to find a leader to stand up and take control,” she said. “Our setters have really improved, and they’re always working hard and staying positive on the court. Everyone is confident because they’ve seen improvement in themselves they never thought they’d see.”
Sanders credited that improvement to a better bond as teammates.
“When you have a good bond as a team, you tend to play better, and that’s what is happening with us,” Sanders said.
Going forward, the Lady Tigers travel to Greensboro on Thursday and will host a four-team tournament Saturday at 9 a.m. with Selma, Sumter Central and Greensboro.
