The Theo Ratliff Activity Center held a clothing drive Saturday, Aug. 30 and will hold a clothing pick-up Saturday, Sept. 13.
Kathryn Pearson, community service organizer with the Theo Ratliff Center, said last Saturday’s drop-off was successful.
“I thought it went very well,” she said. “We had quite a few donations, and it was enough to put out for a pick-up day.”
Partnering with the United Way of West Alabama, the Ratliff Center will hold the Community Clothing Pick-Up Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 in the center’s gym.
Pearson said clothes collected from the clothing drive will be placed out on tables for those in need in the community.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to come in and get what they need,” Pearson added. “We’ll have tables set up in the gym, and the clothes will be arranged by size. We’ll be able to direct people to where they need to go based on what size they’re looking for.”
She added that any clothing left over after the pick-up will be donated to Demopolis’ Salvation Army store.
Anyone who wasn’t able to get by the Ratliff Center for the clothing drop-off can still drop off any clothes they wish to donate up to the date of the pick-up.
