Demopolis cross country competes in first meet

Demopolis High School’s cross country team competed in their first meet in program history over the weekend.
The team traveled to Florence on Saturday to run in the Brooks High School Cross Country Invitational.
On the girls side, Gracie Boykin earned a top-five finish with a time of 23:30.54, good for fourth overall out of 58 runners. The winner of the race, Emma Knight from Corinth, ran the race in 21:17.42.
Rounding out the girls finishers for Demopolis were Sylvia Clayton in 6th with a time of 23:46.60, Darneshia Harris in 15th with a time of 25:08.38, Audrey Boykin with a time of 25:56.44, Mary Michael Bradley with a time of 27:22.02, and Petra Miranda with a time of 41:01.46.
On the boys side, Datrion Fultz led the way for the Tigers, finishing 9th overall out of 78 runners with a time of 19:12.84, or a pace of 6-minutes, 12-seconds per mile. Banks Compton finished 40th with a time of 23:02.30. Other finishers from DHS were Austin Brooks with a time of 23:26.20, James Woods with a time of 25:34.35, Jacob Boland with a time of 27:58.26, Clay McVay with a time of 28:53.92, and Jose Cardenas with a time of 30:30.82.
