The Sweet Water Dixie Belles (13-15-year-old) team won the District 8 tournament last weekend at the Demopolis Sportplex.

By winning the tournament, they advance to the Dixie State Tournament on July 12 in Enterprise. This is the first girls team in the history of Sweet Water Dixie Softball to advance to a state tournament.

To win the tournament, Sweet Water defeated Selma on Thursday night, then lost to Thomasville on Saturday afternoon and beat Selma on Saturday evening. Having lost a game, they had to beat Thomasville twice on Sunday to win the tournament.

They won game one 12-4 and game two 13-4 to claim the district title. Both Sweet Water and Thomasville advance to the state tournament in Enterprise.
