Former Demopolis High School basketball player Shadijah Moore signed a letter of intent to attend Sam Houston State University after playing the last two seasons at Shelton State Community College.
Moore graduated DHS in 2012 and is excited to continue her career with the Bearkats.
“It’s a dream come true,” she said. “Everyone that plays the game wants to be able to play for a Division-1 school.”
Moore said she had an opportunity to go to a D-1 school out of Demopolis, but after tearing her ACL in her senior season, she decided to go the junior college route to gain her strength back.
“It was one of the toughest things I’ve been through,” she said. “There were days that I wanted to quit, but my coaches, my teammates and my family kept me going.”
She added that she hopes to go in to Sam Houston State and be successful and earn her degree.
“If I have the opportunity to keep playing basketball overseas after I graduate, I would definitely love to do that,” Moore said.
Moore is a 6-foot, 2-inch center who earned Shelton State’s “Most Improved Player” award this past season. She averaged 17.6 minutes per game while shooting 61.7 percent from the floor.
