The Demopolis Public Library is sponsoring a free outdoor concert with Roger Day on Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m. in Public Square in historic, downtown Demopolis.
The concert will help kick off the library’s summer reading program, “Fizz Boom, Read!”
Encouraging children to sing loud, jump high and dream big, Day, a two-time Parents Choice Award-winner, entertains more than 100,000 children and adults annually. His energetic live shows incorporate his trademark wit, whimsy and wordplay.
He creates an imaginary world populated by pachyderms, Sherpas, isopods and Mosquito Burritos. He urges children to reach their potential by using body and brain, mind and muscle. His intent is to empower children to follow their dreams and make a positive impact on the world.
“This family-friendly concert is free and open to the public,” library director Morgan Allen said. “This concert is a way for the library to kick off our summer reading program ‘Fizz, Boom, Read,’ and encourage children and parents to read throughout the summer. We appreciate Diane Brooker and Riley Wells from Alabama Power recognizing the importance of reading and helping us secure funding for the concert.”
The concert is sponsored by the Demopolis Public Library and Alabama Power. Those in attendance are welcome to bring coolers, lawn chairs, picnic blankets and family to the free event. For more information, contact Allen at (334) 289-1595.
