UWA to close at 4 p.m. due to severe weather threat

The University of West Alabama will close at 4 p.m. in response to the threat of severe weather expected Monday evening.
Classes meeting at 4 p.m. or later are canceled. This closing also includes the Demopolis Higher Education Center and University Cinema.
In addition to the cancellation of evening classes, the University Employee Pinning Ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. has been postponed.
Young Hall Cafeteria will close at 6 p.m.
The Student Union Building (SUB) basement will remain open until 10 p.m.
The Student Government Association’s inauguration will be held as planned at 5 p.m. in the SUB unless otherwise announced.
The University community is urged to follow the recommendations set forth in the severe weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service. Students who live on campus should avoid travel on Monday evening, as road conditions may be hazardous, and potentially dangerous scattered storms are likely.
