Demopolis High School’s soccer team filled the net Saturday night in a 10-0 win on the road at Sipsey Valley.
Several younger players on the team were able to play valuable minutes in the game allowing some of the starters to rest their legs with the playoffs right around the corner.
Head coach Brad Daniels said he was proud of the way his team played.
“The team played well together with a limited attack format,” he said. “The seniors stepped up and played well, guiding the younger players. I was very proud of our enthusiasm after a big match against Holy Spirit. The squad came together and corrected some mistakes.”
Oscar Valdivia, Austin Brooks and Clay McVay each had one assist in the game. Alex Maravilla and Christian Corbitt led the way in scoring with two goals each. Zachary Chu, Adam Brooker, Cristian Velez, Brooks and Valdivia each had a goal, and Julia Singleton scored her first varsity goal of the season.
The Tigers traveled to Hillcrest for a Tuesday afternoon game, and they will face Parker High School in a double header Wednesday for the final two region games of the season. Two wins against Parker on Wednesday would give Demopolis a season sweep in the region. The Tigers need to win one of the two games at Parker to host in the first round of the playoffs.
