Arrest made in counterfeit check case

A man wanted for allegedly writing counterfeit checks has been arrested.
John Clark Jr., 59, of Newton, Miss., was taken into custody by the Meridian Police Department and transported back to Demopolis by DPD investigators.
He was then booked in the Marengo County Dentention Center, where he was awaiting bond on Thursday morning.
Clark faces four counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.
Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese commended his officers for their work and thanked local media for their assistance with the case.
