Property taxes that were not paid during the annual tax season of Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 are now delinquent, and penalties and interest apply.

Marengo County Revenue Commissioner Sharon Barkley said in order to avoid advertising fees, payments must be made by March 31.

Delinquent taxes will be listed in the newspaper beginning April 3 and will continue for three consecutive weeks. All tax payments must be cash, cashier’s check or credit/debit card for all remaining 2013 tax collections. Payments can also be made online via www.marengocountyal.com through March 31.

If taxes are not paid by May 1, then all properties that remain delinquent will be sold for taxes on May 2 at 10 a.m. at the Marengo County Courthouse.
