West Alabama women’s soccer head coach Graeme Orr has announced the signing of four players during National Signing Day on Wednesday.
“We are happy to announce the signings of these four young athletic ladies because we feel they all fit into our philosophy at UWA,” said Orr. “We are determined to attract the best caliber of athlete from In and out of state along with the rest of the globe to fabricate a diverse culture at our institution, and we feel these young athletes will help us reach our goal.”
Defender’s Alyssa Wright-Brown and Amira Wynn and defensive-midfielder’s Paulien Vandekeybus and Juliana Coburn have signed on to join a Tiger squad that allowed a program best of 25 goals all last season.
Wright-Brown will join UWA by way of Nova High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., while Wynn comes from Heritage high school in McKinney, Texas.
Coburn will remain in the state of Alabama, as she joins from Bob Jones high school in Madison, Ala. Vandekeybus, a Antwerp, Belgium native, comes by way of the College of Eucharistic Heart Essen.
“Alyssa, Amira, Paulien & Juliana will join already robust squad and hopefully inject a level of freshness as we look to build on our previous accomplishments” Orr said. “We hope in the next few weeks we can conclude our signing activity in the 2014 market, with our objective of assembling a squad capable of challenging for post season honors.”
