City of Linden donates to summer camp

The Linden City Council approved donating $750 to the Fountain of Youth Summer Camp for the upcoming summer.
The council has donated to the camp in each of the last two years. The camp is for eight weeks during the summer, and it runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The council said they will evaluate how the camp is doing after the first four weeks and decide if they want to donate more at that point.
While that was the only action the council took during the meeting, Linden Police Chief Scott McClure said one of the vehicles that has been wrecked is being looked at by Gibson’s Body Shop.
“We thought it was totaled, but the insurance company doesn’t think it is,” McClure said. “It would take about $13,000 to $14,000 to total it given its age, so they’re looking at it to see.”
Mayor Charles Moore said new nets have been purchased for the softball fields at Scott Park, and they have also purchased new pole pads for safety.
The council will meet again Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m.
