The Marengo Academy Longhorns went on the road Friday night to Southern Academy and came away with a 40-0 win to seal a 10-0 regular season.

The Longhorns outgained Southern 256 yards to 46 yards in the game.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter, but with 11:52 to play in the second quarter, Hayden Huckabee broke the scoreless tie with a 10-yard touchdown run. A William Tutt interception led to a Tyler Barkley 1-yard TD run to put MA on top 14-0.

Thomas Etheridge sacked the Southern quarterback for a safety with 7:11 to go in the quarter, then Shade Pritchett broke a 58-yard touchdown run on MA’s next offensive play to put the Longhorns up 23-0.

Ralph Langley closed out the scoring in the second quarter with a 7-yard run to put the Longhorns on top 30-0 at halftime.

Pritchett returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown and Brant Lewis kicked a field goal late in the fourth quarter to give MA the 40-0 lead.

Huckabee led the Longhorns with 100 rushing yards on seven carries. Etheridge led the way on defense with 7 tackles and a sack.
