The University of West Alabama football team jumped one spot to No. 20 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Coaches’ Top 25 Poll after posting a 45-14 victory over West Georgia.
The Tigers are 6-2, 4-0 in the Gulf South Conference, and travel to unranked North Alabama Saturday. UNA, 5-2 and 3-1, is riding the longest winning streak in the GSC at four games.
West Alabama is the only team in the GSC to be ranked this week by the coaches. Valdosta State, UNA and Delta State all received votes.
Minnesota State-Mankato still holds the top spot, followed by Northwest Missouri State. Colorado State-Pueblo, Henderson State (Ark.) and Bloomsburg (Pa.) round out the top five.
Valdosta State and Tarleton State dropped out of the poll this week allowing Slippery Rock to join Newberry as newcomers in this week’s poll.
