The Demopolis City Board of Education approved new diploma and endorsement options for Demopolis High School in a meeting Monday night.

Last year, the state board of education said that schools may only offer one diploma, and endorsements can be added to that diploma. The Demopolis BOE approved Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin’s options for a single diploma and the option for an advanced placement endorsement. Griffin said there will also be different seals available, depending on the courses a student completes.

Because of the change to the diploma, the board also had to approve changed to the policy on graduation requirements and the policy on valedictorian, salutatorian and honor line to match the new diploma.

In other business, the board also approved the use of the Demopolis Middle School facilities for the Demopolis Youth Football League.

The board also approved milk bids from Barber Dairies for $35,964.

The Demopolis BOE also approved an investment banking agreement with the Royal Bank of Canada for QZAB, which is for new geothermal units to be installed at the high school to replace the old air conditioning units.

The board also approved the following personnel items:

•Withdraw resignation of Cindy Keasler as assistant child nutrition program manager at Westside Elementary

•Transfer Jarrett Williamson from DMS science teacher to DHS science teacher

•Employ Timie Lee as DMS science teacher

•Employ Heather Haynes as DHS/DMS choral teacher

•Accept resignation of Kelee Williams as DHS special education teacher

•Post DHS special education teacher position through Aug. 5

•Modify work schedule of Sherry Feller to four days per week starting Aug. 5

•Accept Family and Medical Leave Act for Amanda Harrison

•Transfer Dale Smith from secretary at U.S. Jones to secretary at DHS

•Transfer Becky Gibson from secretary at DHS to secretary at U.S. Jones

In other business, the board also did the following:

•Approved payroll and expenditures for June 2013

•Approved 2013-14 coaching supplements

•Approved 2013-14 volunteer list
