The Linden City Council named a replacement for the open spot on the Linden City Board of Education in their Monday meeting.
The council named Byron Vice to the seat formerly occupied by Dr. Bobby Hopper.
“He’s recently retired from the paper mill, so he has plenty of time to devote to it,” Mayor Charles Moore said.
Moore also said the carnival at last weekend’s Summer Celebration was a success.
“We made $770 in profit from the carnival,” Moore said. “It was a good weekend.”
City secretary Bruce Ward said everything planned for the busy celebration weekend went as planned.
“We did really well for having the rain,” Ward said. “For our first time holding the event, it went well. We had about 15 to 20 vehicles in the parade, and had several performers sing that drew a good crowd.”
The council also approved changing the age for the lounge at Screamer’s Restaurant and Lounge from 25 and up to 21 and up, per the owners request at a previous meeting.
