Relay for Life of Marengo County will be held Friday at 6 p.m., and luminaria and sky lanterns are still for sale.

Luminaria can be purchased with a $5 donation “in memory” or “in honor” of cancer patients. The luminaria will have the name of the patient on them, and will be lit throughout the ceremony. They will be placed along the track of Relay for Life.

Sky lanterns can be purchased with a $15 donation, also “in memory” or “in honor” of cancer patients. They will be released into the sky by volunteers during the event.

Luminaria and sky lanterns can be purchased at the event, from any of the Relay for Life teams or online at www.relayforlife.org/marengoal.

Event Chair Doris Stephens said in case of rain, arrangements are being made to move the event to another location, but that has not been finalized as of Tuesday afternoon.

“If we have bad weather, we’re working on moving the event,” she said, “but I’m expecting good weather right now.
