Winnie Bell Chambless, 81, of Demopolis, passed away Tuesday, April 16 at Woodhaven Nursing Home in Demopolis.

She was born Aug. 3, 1931 in Lauderdale County, Miss., to the late Eli and Willie Mae Rutherford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Willie Mae Rutherford; her husband, Elijah Lee Chambless; and her son, Lee Chambless.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Lynn) Thompson of Demopolis; son, Eddie (Lisa) Chambless of Linden; sisters, Clara (Bill) Gilbert and Mertis Rutherford; brothers, Jim and Eugene Rutherford; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at Siloam Baptist Church in Ward with the Rev. Brad Campbell officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Wright, Johnny Wright, George Tew, Ronnie Harwell, Skip Holder and Tom Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Classie Mathews, Marzet Besteder, Tera Sealy, Lubby Huges, Peggy Averett and Southern Care Hospice.
