This week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball and softball polls have been released, and while there is no change as far as Marengo County teams in the top 10 of their respective classes, one school has been nominated for the top 10 for the first time all season.

The Marengo Academy softball team (20-1) still holds the top spot in the AISA top 10. The Lady Longhorns have held that spot since the first week of the season.

The Demopolis Tigers baseball team (22-6) is still just outside the top 10 in the Class 5A poll. Demopolis will host Valley in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night

The newcomer to the rankings in Marengo County is the Sweet Water Bulldogs baseball team (17-14). The Bulldogs, like Demopolis, are just outside the top 10 in the Class 2A poll. Sweet Water will host Mobile Christian in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night.
