The Demopolis Lady Tigers were shut out by the Hillcrest Patriots on Monday night, 7-0.
The Lady Tigers struck out 15 times in the game and only managed two hits, and Victoria Washburn got both hits for Demopolis.
Danielle Tatum started the game for Demopolis, and she stayed out of trouble until the sixth inning when Hillcrest’s batters started warming up.
Demopolis assistant coach Stephen Campbell said the struggles at the plate stemmed from the girls second-guessing themselves.
“We were second-guessing a lot and not relaxing at the plate,” Campbell said. “We had some good at bats, but we faced a really good pitcher and a really good team. They aren’t going to give you anything. The bottom line is you have to score to win.”
The loss moves the Lady Tigers to 8-10-1 on the season. They will face area opponent Greenville at home Thursday night at 5 p.m.
