The Demopolis Police Department will host a child passenger safety checkup event on Friday, March 29 from noon to 2 p.m. at Vowell’s Fresh Market parking lot.

Sgt. Monica Oliver and Officer Laderrius Smith of the DPD are certified technicians in child passenger safety.

Also attending the event will be Tasha Washington, who works with Stillman College in Tuscaloosa.

The representatives will be able to assist with the correct installation of the seats.

“It has been a few years since we have had this event in Demopolis, but in the past it has had a good turnout,” Oliver said.

She said they will be there to assist with the correct installation of the seats and answer some questions about weight limit, height limit and other things.

Those who are not sure if their child’s car seat is installed properly or those that have any questions, DPD will be there to assist.
