Lady Longhorns remain undefeated

The Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns softball team remained undefeated with two wins over the weekend.
On Friday, they faced area foe Patrician Academy, and won the game 11-1. Catcher Reesa Holifield went 2-3 with a double and three RBIs. Chandler Stenz was 2-2 with three runs scored, and Katie Tucker hit 2-4 with two runs scored. Andrea Edmonds got the win with nine strikeouts, only giving up four hits in five innings.
On Monday, the Lady Longhorns faced South Choctaw, and won 4-0.
Andrea Edmonds threw a two-hit shutout, and had a perfect game going into the seventh before allowing two hits. She had seven strikeouts in the game.
Holifield went 2-3 in the game with two doubles and two RBIs and Edmonds went 2-3 with a double. Stenz drove in a run with an infield out in the third inning, and Anna Michael Crocker also had an RBI.
The two wins move the Lady Longhorns to 13-0 overall. They are 2-0 in area play.
There are eight games and a tournament remaining in the regular season for the Lady Horns. Their remaining schedule is as follows:
• March 21-23 – Macon East Tournament (Away)
•April 2 – Patrician (Home)
•April 5 – Sumter (Home)
•April 6 – Kingwood double header (Away)
•April 8 – Wilcox (Away)
•April 9 – Southern (Home)
•April 15 – Clarke Prep (Home)
•April 19 – Tuscaloosa double header (Away)
•April 29 – Macon East
The state tournament is May 3-4.
