Demopolis athletics get through busy weekend

Several Demopolis High School athletic teams were on the road this past weekend competing in their final games before having a few days off for graduation exams.
The Tiger baseball team traveled to Montgomery to St. James and split a double header with St. James and Trinity Presbyterian. They opened the day against St. James and came up short, 5-2, but they faced Trinity in the second game and came away with a 3-2 win. Their record moves to 11-3 after splitting the two games.
The DHS softball team was at Jackson High School for the Tombigbee Tournament. They played Jackson on Friday night, and came up short getting shut out 2-0. They faced Millry on Saturday, but couldn’t keep it close, falling 10-3. The two losses put them at 6-8-1 on the season.
Also in action Friday night was the Tiger soccer team. They traveled to Tuscaloosa to take on Paul Bryant High School, and left with a 3-2 win. The win puts them at 6-5-1 with seven games remaining on their regular season schedule.
Both the girls and boys tennis teams were at Paul Bryant on Saturday, and the boys faced Walker High School, while the girls faced Paul Bryant. The boys were unable to come away with a win against Walker, and the girls came up short against Paul Bryant. The girls also forfeited to Walker.
