Demopolis High School head basketball coach Rodney Jackson will lead a six-week basketball camp for students in third through eighth grade.
The came started Tuesday, March 5, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday through Thursday, April 18 at the U.S. Jones Elementary School gym from 3:30-5 p.m. The cost of the camp is $30.
“We have two goals with this camp,” Jackson said. “We want to teach the fundamentals of basketball so these kids can become good high school basketball players, and we also want to raise funds for our current high school players to be able to go to camps of their own in the off-season.”
Jackson and some of his players from DHS will run the camp, and he said that it gives the students some hands-on time with him to learn the game.
“It gives them more exposure to the game, and it will show them how to play the game the right way,” he said.
Forms for the camp are available at U.S. Jones Elementary, and Jackson said he will take them through Thursday, March 7.
