Mollie Doris Hannah McNeill

Mollie Doris Hannah McNeill, 85, departed this life and entered eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 27 in Hammond, La.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Thomas McNeill for almost 42 years and the only child of the late Ollie Hart Hannah and Clara Elizabeth Pilkerton Hannah.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Thomas McNeill and his wife, Ann Marie McNeill. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Molly Marie McNeill; and her grandson, Patrick Thomas McNeill and his wife, Melissa Puglia McNeill.

Mollie Doris was born in Greensboro in 1927.  Her family moved to Uniontown in the 1940s when her father went to work for the local cotton mill.  Mollie Doris graduated from Uniontown High School in 1946.  She married Paul on Christmas Eve in 1946 at the Uniontown Methodist Church. Mollie and Paul moved to New Orleans in 1951 and lived in the St. Roch neighborhood until 1969 when they moved to St. Bernard Parish to be closer to the Kaiser Aluminum Plant where Paul worked for more than 30 years.  Mollie Doris relocated in Hammond immediately following Hurricane Katrina.  She was a resident of Heritage Healthcare of Hammond for the last 20 months of her life.  The family would like to especially thank the staff of Heritage Healthcare for their care and compassion.

Her funeral services were handled by James F. Webb Funeral Home in Meridian, Miss.  Graveside services were held at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian on Monday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the organization or charity of your choice.
