Selma resident Paul Garner recently joined Marengo Insurance Agency, which offers multiple lines of property, casualty and life insurance. Marengo Insurance Agency was started in 1978 by Aubrey Ellis and Pete Stritzinger, and is now wholly owned by Jay Reynolds.

“Marengo Insurance has grown significantly the past 10 years and I’ve been looking to expand eastward,” Reynolds said. “I’ve known Paul for 15 years. He’s a good, honest person I can trust with the Marengo Insurance name. Trust is big in the insurance business and that’s important to me. Our motto is as long as we’re looking out for the customer’s needs everything else will fall in place, and I know Paul is someone who will do that.”

Marengo Insurance now represents more than 30 commercial and personal insurance companies. They offer coverage throughout west Alabama and in Baldwin County through their five full time agents, who have more than 80 years experience in the insurance industry.

Garner, a 1988 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in marketing also earned an MBA from Auburn University in 1989. He’s also a 2003 graduate of Louisiana State University’s Graduate School of Banking is certified as a real estate cost evaluator.

Garner is currently owner and managing partner of Beneflex Solutions, a Selma company that is a third party administrator of flexible spending accounts servicing customers in several states. He also has experience in banking having been a loan officer for Robertson Banking Company in Demopolis and People’s Bank & Trust Company in Selma.

Garner is married to the former Jana Russell and they have two children, Sam (7) and Fairchild (5).
