Demopolis football stats leaders for 2012

While the Demopolis Tigers football season ended earlier than many people around the county had hoped, the players on the team still had some impressive stats during the year.
Offensively, Roderick Davis led the Tigers in rushing with 1,233 yards on 192 carries for 9 touchdowns. His 6.42 yards per carry helped lead the Tigers to their 9-3 record. Quarterback Tucker Jones was second on the team in rushing with 568 yards on 93 carries for 12 touchdowns. Demetrius Kemp was third on the team in rushing with 46 carries for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns.
For a team that does not do much in the passing department, Jones was still able to put up some good numbers this season. He finished 76 of 144 for 1,376 yards, 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
Rodney Harper led Demopolis in receiving yards in 2012 with 432 yards on 25 catches for 6 TDs. Brock Montgomery wasn’t far behind with 373 yards on 16 catches for 5 TDs. Cortez Lewis was third on the team in receiving with 19 catches for 325 yards and 5 TDs.
For the season, the Tigers as a whole had 432 rushes for 2,481 yards and 30 TDs on the ground. Through the air, the Tigers were 81 of 161 for 1,427 yards and 19 TDs, giving the team a total of 3,908 yards on the season.
Kemp led the Tigers in kickoff returns with 15 returns for 385 yards and a TD. Lewis led Demopolis in punt returns with 10 returns for 82 yards.
Defensively, Kemp led the Tigers in tackles, interceptions and fumble recoveries. He had 66 tackles on the season. Peyton Pearson finished the year with 62 tackles and Wesley Anderson was third on the team in tackles with 55.
Kemp and Mason Rogers both had two interceptions, and Kemp returned both of his for TDs.
As a team, the Tigers were plus-12 in turnovers. They had 25 turnovers to their opponents 37 on the season.
