For the organization A Time to Share, Thanksgiving is a holiday that represents what the nonprofit is all about — helping those less fortunate. They do that by feeding nearly 200 people in Demopolis that day.
This year’s Thanksgiving meal will take place Thursday, Nov. 22 at the Hopehill District Association Building at 901 East Pettus St. from noon to 3 p.m.
“My son started A Time to Share and wanted to give back to the community, it has been a great success each and every year,” minister Grace Clayton-Motley said.
Though the dinner ends at 3 p.m., Motley said no one will be turned away.
The free meal is made possible by donors and served by volunteers.
Organization founder Bradley White, of Demopolis, started “A Time to Share” about five years ago as a way to give back to the community.
The first dinner was in November 2007 and since, the organization, has fed about 200 every year.
“It’s never the same people,” Motley said. “Sometimes it may be different people, who are experiencing different situations.”
The organization also provides meals to residents at the local nursing homes. “We help everybody,” Motley said.
She said she is very proud of her son for starting, “A Time to Share.”
“We are thankful for all the donations gave and every prayer prayed,” she said. “We are grateful for the churches, businesses, individuals that thought enough to bless us so that we could bless someone else.”
