The Marengo Academy Longhorns stormed over the Sumter Academy Eagles in Friday night’s game with a 37-12 win.

Josh Holifield kept his feet on the ground Friday and followed Pritchett with 2 touchdowns. Holifield rushed for 189-yards in 21 carries.
The Longhorns wasted no time putting points on the board scoring on the first drive with a 10-yard pass to Pritchett giving them an early lead.
“I think we played real good, it’s probably the best game we have played all year,” Marengo Academy Head Coach Robby James said.
He said he has a fairly young team, so he is proud of how the team played.
This game will give Marengo Academy the home field advantage as they prepare to go into the playoff games, James said.
The second half started off quiet for both teams until Marengo’s Holifield scored on a 15-yard run with 1:46 left in the third quarter.
The Eagles crossed the goal line twice Friday with two rushing touchdowns giving them a total of 12 points for the night.
Hayden Hall lead the Longhorns on the defensive side of the ball with 8 tackles and 3 assists.
Pritchett scored the Longhorns final score of the night on a 20-yard pass to seal the win bringing the score 37-12.
