The Linden Fire Department will hold a parade Saturday, Oct. 13 for Fire Prevention Week, which runs all this week.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden and goes to the Depot Inn.
Denny Baynham, a Linden firefighter, said it is a good chance for kids to come out and see the fire trucks up close.
“They can come to the fire department, and we will have the trucks out,” he said. “We want the kids to see the parade and come have a good time.”
On Thursday, Oct. 11, members of the fire department will go to Marengo Academy at 8:30 a.m. for the elementary school-aged students to talk with them about fire safety, according to this year’s theme, “Two Ways Out.” The department has an antique fire truck from the 1940s that they will be able to give rides on.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, they will do the same thing at Linden Elementary School.
Other fire departments that are participating are asked to be in Linden at 10 a.m. to get ready for the parade. All fire departments and EMT crews are welcomed to participate.
