First Baptist Church of Demopolis will host the VOICES of Mobile, a vocal ensemble consisting of 16 students from The University of Mobile this Sunday, Oct. 6. The group will lead the 11 a.m. worship service.
VOICES performs in churches, schools, conferences and civic events throughout the United States and abroad. Recently, they traveled on a eight-day tour in Israel.
“They were headed up this way and called Ed Rush (the music minister) and asked to sing,” Pastor Carl Williams said. “They will lead our worship service Sunday morning. We are very fortunate to have them.”
VOICES have performed at the Southern Baptist Convention pastor’s conference, the White House, Carnegie Hall in NYC and the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
“I have heard them before at the state Baptist convention and they were great,” Williams said. “I recall them definitely getting two or three standing ovations throughout the night.”
VOICES is directed by Dr. Al Miller and produced by Dr. Roger Breland.
“We don’t want to pull people away from their churches, but for those that don’t have a church home, we hope they will come out and worship with us,” Williams said.
