The A.L. Johnson Eagles soared over Blacksher with a 24-8 win in Friday’s contest.
Scoring was a combined effort on the Eagles offense with touchdowns made by seniors Demarcus Woods, Castillo Huggins and Willie Moore. The Eagles forced Blacksher to give up a safety adding two points to their final score.
It was a slow start for both teams with a scoreless first quarter. Momentum for the Eagles rose when senior Demarcus Woods rushed for their first touchdown and junior Lawrence Bell converted the 2 points, giving the Eagles an 8-0 lead over Blacksher just before the half.
“I think the team played pretty good,” Coach Moses Jones for A.L. Johnson said. “We definitely fought to the end.”
Blacksher scored their only touchdown for the night in the third quarter on a 6-yard carry and secured the 2-point conversion.
The Eagles continue to move forward and work on penalty flags, which have been crucial since the start of their season.
“We had one touchdown called back tonight, I think that makes nine for the season. We have got to improve on that,” Jones said.
Next week, the Eagles hit the road to take on Ellwood Christian this Thursday.
