Despite the warm temperatures outside, preparations for the wintry season and Christmas on the River are well underway.

Pageant forms will be available beginning Aug. 20 at the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for students at schools within a 50-mile radius of Demopolis.

Applications are also available online at www.christmasontheriver.com by age group under the COTR forms button.

Forms need to be returned to their respective chairperson and not the Chamber along with the entry fee.

In addition to preparing for the pageant, citizens should be aware RV parking passes for Christmas on the River will go on sale at the Chamber on Sept. 4 at 8.30 am.

There are 18 spaces are available at a cost of $50 each, which is non-refundable. Each person is limited to two spaces per person and must be present at the Chamber office to purchase.

Please bring your RV description, size and license plate number. There is no water, power or dumping access at these sites. Only those with a sanctioned vehicle pass are allowed to park.

Additionally, Christmas on the River workdays will be held at the COTR warehouse on Friday, Aug. 24 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 29 1- 5 p.m.

There is a need for people to paint, glue, screw in light bulbs, cut out paper patterns, do some construction and paper-mache.
