A Time to Share Ministries will hold a special community event July 7.
“On July 7 this year, A Time to Share will celebrate A Day of Sharing with fun, food, games, a car show, a rap contest,” Bradley White, founder of the organization said. “As usual, it is sponsored by the citizens of Demopolis. We are most thankful for the gifts that we have been given.”
Since its inception, the group has provided food for tornado victims and participated in a number of community service projects while also holding holiday events that allow it to feed needy families.
“This year, we celebrated our very first Easter. All monies that were left will go toward our Fourth of July event,” White said.
The group first held an Independence Day event in 2011, drawing 375 people to the day full of fun, food and fellowship before deciding to hold a similar event for Easter 2012.
“Easter was so great. We had well over 200 kids. This year was the first time doing it. It was just (Bradley) and some of his friends doing it,” group member Grace Clayton Motley said. “They posted some signs and in less than 24 hours they had food on the grill and the children showed up.”
The July 7 event, which is made possible by the donations of individuals and businesses around the community is at 3 pm. on the tennis courts behind Gaineswood.
“This year we have a special project. A young lady by the name of Atlay Phillips Nelson is going to receive a pancreas and a kidney transplant sometime this year,” Motley said. “She has to have at least $5,000 in the bank to pay for medicine and doctor’s visits. We are going to give her a gift. Any extra monies raised will go to her.”
